What are the major changes?

Blackboard Learn Ultra feature highlights:

Original course menu converts to Course Content.

Convert content from the Blackboard Original menu such as the Syllabus, Learning Modules, Assignments, and Exams/Quizzes to top level Course Content folders in Learn Ultra.

Two levels of Course Content improves accessibility.
  • Learning Modules: Order content in self contained units, students can page through in a linear fashion like a book or a presentation. Learning modules can use forced sequencing, progress tracking, and release conditions.
  • ✔Learning Modules can contain Folders

    ❌Folders cannot contain Learning Modules

  • Folders: Organize content in a folder, students can access content by opening and closing items one at a time. Folders can use progress tracking and release conditions to show/hide content based on specific members/groups, date/time, and/or performance conditions.
  • ✔Folders can contain Folders

    ❌ Learning Modules and Folders cannot contain more than two levels of folders

Enhanced communication increases interaction and engagement.
  • Announcements: Schedule and post timely information critical to course success. New, active course announcements appear the when students enter your course, students must close the new course announcements window before they can view course content.
  • Messages: Add course Messages to communicate with a specific user, group, or the entire class. Course Messages are now a part of the course navigation and you can send messages from anywhere in the course.
  • Conversations: Build a sense of community through conversations. Add conversations to documents, assignments, tests, and teaching tools to encourage students to interact with content and exchange ideas, questions, and answers.
  • Discussions: Get a detailed analysis with improved metrics. Compare and assess student contributions through substantive posts, sentence complexity, lexical variation, critical thinking level, and word variation.

How do I migrate to Blackboard Learn Ultra?

Blackboard Learn Ultra puts the tools where you need them:

Create course content, upload, drag and drop, and access your cloud storage, content market, and content collection.
  • Course Content Items: Create learning modules, folders, documents, links, and add teaching tools and SCORM packages.
  • Assessments: Add a Test or Assignment.
  • Participation and Engagement: Include Discussion and Journal assignments.
Copy all or part of your course content from any course you teach with just one click.
  • Copy Content: Select to copy course modules, folders, assignments, discussions, question banks, rubrics, and/or an entire course.
  • Course Content Exceptions: View the number exceptions created during the copy or import process.
  • Exception Report: Access each category to address content exceptions that need your attention.
Convert course content to explore your Original course in Ultra Preview before you decide make the switch.
  • Ultra Course Preview: Preview courses that aren't currently available to students.
  • Back to Original course: Return to the Original course view if you aren't ready to make the switch.
  • Use the Ultra course: Permanently convert your course if you approve of the Learn Ultra preview.
