Your Blackboard profile is available on the base navigation menu and includes standard and customizable information about your personal preferences and course notifications.

Base Navigation
Blackboard base navigation is the consistent left menu with options to view and access resources across all of your courses.
Mobile Menu
- VWU logo: Links to the university website.
- Institution Page: Features important announcements and resources.
- Profile: Lists your name. information, and system settings including notifications.
- Activity Stream: Provides an ordered list of important system notifications and direct links.
- Courses: Defaults to your Current Courses in list or tile view with access to filter and favorite.
- Calendar: Includes schedules, events, office hours, and due dates.
- Messages: Allows you to view and add messages for any of your courses.
- Grades: Provides a summary and direct links to gradable items.
- Assist: Features descriptions and links to campus resources.
- Tools: Includes integrated tools such as tutoring and course evaluations.

Your Profile
Edit system settings and notifications to determine when and how you receive course notifications.
- Profile: Add basic, additional, and contact information.
- Language: Edit default system language settings.
- Privacy Settings: Change the default - Only instructors
- Global Notification Settings:
- Stream notifications - see Activity Stream below
- Email notifications - emails sent to your VWU account
- SMS notifications - texts (not available at this time)
- Push notifications - the Blackboard mobile app
To add or change your profile picture, select the pencil icon to upload a profile picture.
To add a phonetic spelling and/or audio pronunciation of your name, click the pencil icon to sound out and record your name.
Your Activity Stream
View and access important content, activities, and events across all of your courses. Show All or filter by Grades and Feedback.
- Important: Access past due/new submissions with direct link to this important content.

To edit your course notifications, click the gear icon to select and deselect default Stream, Email, and Push notification settings.
