Announcements appear in the Activity Stream on base navigation and in Announcements on the course navigation bar.
You can schedule and post course announcements.
- Send an email copy to recipients OR
- Schedule announcements
Students must close New Course Announcements before viewing course content.
Messages appear in on base navigation, organized by course. Messages link directly to the course navigation bar.
Users can send messages, to one person, multiple people, or the whole class.
- Send an email copy to recipients
- Allow replies to messages
Students can send an email copy to recipients but they can’t allow replies.
Announcements
You can use course announcements to schedule and post time-sensitive information and record short videos to encourage participation and engagement.
Select Announcements from the navigation bar to add, post, edit, copy, or delete an announcement.
Create a New Announcement
- Enter a Title
- Use the Message editor to format text, embed multimedia, and attach files
- Select to send an email copy or schedule the announcement
- Click Save to save your announcement
- Post your announcement if not scheduled
You can Insert content in an Announcement including a Recording up to a five minute video.
New, active course announcements appear when students enter your course. Students must close the New Course Announcements window before they can view your course content.
Active announcements also appear in the Today, Upcoming, and Recent sections of the Activity Stream. If you schedule an announcement, it appears in the Activity Stream at the scheduled time.
Messages
You can view and send course Messages to one, multiple, or all course members. To increase participation and engagement, users have the option to send an email copy to recipients and allow replies to the message.
You can send a Message from base navigation, the course navigation bar, the submissions page, and the gradebook.
New Message
- Enter the Recipients
- Select to send an email copy and/or allow replies
- Use the Message editor to format text, embed multimedia, and attach files
- Click Send to send your message
View Messages
New messages are flagged by an unread message count or a red icon from base navigation.
View the message count by course and click to view course messages on your course navigation bar.
You can preview Messages and click to view the details.
You can view the message content and reply if enabled.
